Tältkåta, Ådnåris
goahte, Tjubuk goahte, Lávvu, Sami tent.
Kåta - the traditional Sámi tent has been used for centuries. This form of construction has not only been used by the Sámi people, you find similar models amongst other indigenous people in the world, for example in Egypt, Australia, Canada and USA.
Samelandsresor has since 1990 used the kåta for different activities. You can also hire a kåta from our company. The kåta construction we use is a modern version of the old traditional Sámi tent found in different parts of northern Scandinavia. The supplier and manufacturer we use is called
Tentipi.

A njalla is a Sámi
storage-shed. It is a miniature house with a roof, the whole construction is placed high up on a pole. Meat and fish was kept in these sheds, the food was used during the spring when no slaughter took place. The ladder was cut out steps in a tree-stem. It was kept on the ground nearby the
njalla.
