The world heritage Laponia covers an area of 9400 km2 and contains the national parks of Sarek, Badjelánnda, Muttos and Stuor Muorke Gårttje (Padjelanta, Muddus and Stora Sjöfallet), the nature reserves Sjávnnja and Stubbá and Tjuoldavágge, Rapavágge and Sulidälbmá. The Sámi language is a finno-ugric language. The Sámi language is divided into three main dialects, south Sámi, central Sámi and eastern Sámi, these are also divided into nine so called under-dialects. In Sweden you find north Sámi and lule Sámi that belongs to central Sámi dialects and south Sámi. The Sámi language contains many words that relates to nature and reindeer herding. There are for example over 300 words for snow and ice in the lule Sámi dialect.
