Hiking with a guide in Laponia

A world heritage can be an area, a place, a building or a monument that is considered so valuable that it shall be preserved for future generations. A world heritage is selected for it´s nature or culture, Laponia, situated nearby Jokkmokkk complies to both. Here you find a living Sámi culture and a fantastic nature. 

The world heritage Laponia covers an area of 9400 km2 and contains the national parks of Sarek, Badjelánnda, Muttos and Stuor Muorke Gårttje (Padjelanta, Muddus and Stora Sjöfallet), the nature reserves Sjávnnja and Stubbá and Tjuoldavágge, Rapavágge and Sulidälbmá. Join one of our guides for a hike into this gigantic and beautiful area. You decide the speed and length of the trip and what area we should visit in Laponia. Here is something for everybody, mountains, mires and large forests.

The Sámi language is a finno-ugric language. The Sámi language is divided into three main dialects, south Sámi, central Sámi and eastern Sámi, these are also divided into nine so called under-dialects. In Sweden you find north Sámi and lule Sámi that belongs to central Sámi dialects and south Sámi. The Sámi language contains many words that relates to nature and reindeer herding. There are for example over 300 words for snow and ice in the lule Sámi dialect.
